Hospitality is changing… I use the word Hospitality intentionally. We are not in the restaurant business or the service industry. We are here to be hospitable. We must constantly remind ourselves what this word means… We are people, here to provide a memorable moment to be enjoyed with food, friends, and great memories. It’s all in the details. Our singular job; the everything we do every day; what we strive for… it is to create community around delicious food. What does it mean to be Hospitable— “Welcoming Guests into OUR home, yet making them as comfortable as if they were in their own.” Simply, this is our job.

Hospitality for decades was known to be late to the technology game. Religiously old school in their means, methods, and motives. For better or worse technology will continue to invade our lives. It is up to us as individuals of conviction to draw lines and recognize when technology goes too far. Join me in the nostalgia of a different time. Not everything is about ease, efficiency, and convenience. This entire business comes down to one simple component: People. People. People.
People making other people feel special. Cultivating an enchanting experience. Brightening ones day. Making someone smile. Filling a hungry belly. The thought of every one of these acts puts a smile on my face. Hospitality is in my blood, Teriyaki Tom’s is here because we have a passion for YOU.
A passion for people from all walks of life. That is what draws us crazies to the hospitality industry in the first place. Not just a love for the guests we serve every day, but also the people who depend on us to provide for their families. Happy people make food great. Happy people make for an unbridled experience.
The thought of old school hospitality puts a smile on my face as I write about it here. I am unashamed to admit, I too have been guilty of falling for the trap, and forgetting what we, in the hospitality industry are all about. The rise of technology has brought us so many valuable tools—Yet much of this technology has focused on the restaurant, and does not put our guests first—where they rightfully belong.
Without YOU—we have nothing.
That is why, today, I am proud to share this story with you all. I alluded to some of my thinking in last weeks’ email. While I love and embrace how technology has absolutely revolutionized our industry in a wickedly short period of time. Yet, we have to remember, we as the Restaurant are not here for ourselves, but for every one of YOU.
I am make the commitment to re-focus on YOU. Through this lens we have made some significant changes to our brand. While I could sit here and recount our achievements, I find it is a lot more effective to show you instead. Let our actions speak louder than our words.
I invite you all to come and experience hospitality first hand.
Welcome to our family!
